I've Been Shot!

Angela and I went to see Les Miserables last night. After I saw it on Broadway nearly ten years ago, it's been my absolute favorite stage production, partly because of the story, and partly because of the whole Broadway experience. The music is wonderful, and the story is so very touching. If you ever get a chance to see it, GO. I know I'll go back any time that I possibly can.
Jean ValJean wasn't as magnificent as the man I saw in the part on Broadway, but he was very good. Javert was incredible. The men who played Marius and Enjolras (oh MY, but he was good lookin'...) were both great, but their parts ought to have been switched, I think. Cosette, who I absolutely did NOT like on Broadway (she was annoying and tended to go flat in the upper registers in the music), had a very sweet voice, and while I still like Eponine better, I did like Cosette this time. Little Gavroche brought tears to my eyes on more than one occasion, as did Eponine. I've never read the book, though I'd like to, but I understand that she wasn't in it...I think she's a very welcome addition to the story, though. She would do anything, even if it meant dying behind the barricades of the French Revolution, to be near the one she loved. Her song, A Little Fall of Rain, will probably make me cry any time I hear it.
Anyway...about the title of this post: during one of the battle scenes, Jean ValJean turned his back to the barricade to shoot at someone who apparently had slipped around to the back. He pointed his gun directly at Angela and me and fired :-) So, I've been shot by Jean ValJean in the French Revolution. Ha! It was a GREAT night :-)
